About Me

Karen L. Bell

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

With both of her children in elementary school, Karen decided to take some Interior Design classes at a local junior college. One of the classes that she took was an art appreciation class and this was her first real introduction to the world of art. She was drawn to the Impressionist era; one of her favorite artists was Monet, because of the way he used color and light. In the early years of Karen’s marriage, she painted some with oils and later with acrylics, but she preferred painting with watercolors. Karen found that she enjoyed the simplicity and translucency of watercolor. Later she pursued her deep interest in watercolor by studying from different watercolor teachers, in the Ventura County area.

As she grew in confidence, she started working on her own, developing her technique. Karen is a native of southern California and has been married for over forty years. Karen and her husband have been blessed with a son and a daughter, who are both married, and have six beautiful grandchildren. She has been painting watercolor for over twenty years. The beauty of flowers continues to inspire her work.
